Are you ready for Snapdragon 855? What Qualcomm does is a magic! They push the limits and change the future, making our lives more convenient than we could imagine!
Remember those times when we were practically speechless by the 4G network and all the unthinkable changes it brought to our lives? How about 5G?
Well, don’t quite expect a 5G tower nearby the next morning you wake up, but do know that it is closer than you can imagine. On the annual Snapdragon Summit Qualcomm announced that Snapdragon 855 is coming in early 2019. That is going to be their first 5G processor for smartphones.
This new 855 chip is definitely a huge step forward when talking about battery longevity, power and image processing, machine learning, gaming experience. Those are all features which Qualcomm tries to improve from year to year with each new release.
If we are to believe what they said, the AI and mixed reality performance of the new chip will be 3X better than the mobile platforms of the previous generation. That’s because of four-generation multi-core 855 will have.
Speaking of mobile photography and video capture, it goes way beyond cramming more lenses or megapixels. What they have in mind is something more like a computational photography. That means you will be able to get the top-quality pics even when taking night shots. This improvement will make them look like you shot them in the middle of the day. Moreover, this 855 chip is the first one to feature CV ISP, which is why it will be possible for you to have cutting-edge computational pics and videos.
We have mentioned gaming as one of the fields where consumers will feel outstanding improvements. As more and more people are using mobile phones to play games, it’s no wonder we have a whole new generation of gaming-centric phones. That’s why Qualcomm does their best to improve the experience by adding “elite gaming” features in Snapdragon.
Although we are still not sure what the features are about, we have our own wishes. Let us hope it will bring faster GPU performance, better heat management, and less power consumption. Of course, we also have fingers crossed for upgraded graphics as well.
Although some manufacturers consider including in-display fingertips sensors is a bit risky, still, it’s worth the shot because it makes things easier and faster. Instead of light for authentication, the sensor of the new Snapdragon 855 will use 3D ultrasound. That means more accuracy and more security as well! As they say, you will be able to use it even when your fingers are dirty or wet.
All these details sound more than amazing! Better resolution, more convenience, upgraded gaming experience are just some of the benefits Qualcomm proudly announced for Snapdragon 855. However, let us reserve the judgment until it actually arrives. Only then we will be able to test all these and see if the features are really as futuristic as announced.
What more to say but- let’s start counting the days down!
